Jack of All Trades

Would you believe that I know how to paint a house, make a small table or even cabinet? In fact here in our house I am more like the man when it comes to carpentry and repair of anything. Hubby hates doing such tasks because he doesn’t have the skills while I, on the otherhand, love to do things as much by hand to express my creativity. I love to do almost everything that’s why my family calls me “jack of all trades”.

I grew up in a province where almost everything had to be made with hands. I love watching my father and grandpa work and make a piece out of wood and bamboo, from chairs and cupboards to bamboo floors. Their crafts always fascinate me. When I was in high school we had industrial arts subject where we were taught carpentry works…then everything started there. I learned how to use saw and hammer. I also learned how to plane surfaces, scrape and sand. I even know how to use spring or ball plungers. Yes, I have mastered the use of almost every tool.

I always look for a new and exciting things to try. It maybe unusual for a woman like me to do male jobs but doing such things challenges me. Besides I want to show that stay-at-home Moms do a lot more than cook and sit at home.

The Favorite Choice of Movie Fanatics

My whole family loves watching movies. Watching relaxes us after a hard day’s work. It has also become our favorite past time. The good thing is, we can watch movies in the comfort of our home while munching our favorite snacks or slouching on bean bags. Our television may not be so big but I am proud to say that we have a very good surround sound speaker system. We have 5 speakers; the left, right and center speakers upfront and the surround-left and surround-right speakers in the rear plus a subwoofer thus, we hear sound all over the room while watching movies and TV series.

My husband is a World War II movie fanatic and because of our surround-sound system he enjoys the more fuller and richer sound; the pounding sound of canons, blasting, etc. That is the advantage of having a good surround sound speaker system (regardless of how big your television is) over watching with two-speaker stereo. That is why surround-sound technology is the favorite choice of movie fanatics and consumers of home theater system.

Whether you are planning to sell your house or just wanting to upgrade it, home improvements are right for you. Although a lot of people might stop when thinking about that “improvement” part where you should spend more to upgrade each area of the house, think again. There are a lot of effective ways for home renovations that are right in the budget and are profitable.

Renovating your home would mean making the whole house better and nicer. It is not specifically all areas of the house, but only those you really need to. Your kitchen should have a brighter and cleaner environment, along with new appliances that can save you in electrical bills. Old appliances tend to use electricity more than the new ones, and the kitchen is where is where most appliances are used.

Another area is your bathroom. Making it cleaner by changing the tiles will make a healthier surrounding for your family. If you have only one bathroom in your house, this is the time to build another one. You don’t want the experience of falling in line at the same time, do you?

For living rooms and bedrooms, change the sheets, curtains, and other accessories. You can also opt for another style if you want. Old furniture should either be replaced or fixed. That goes for the bed, sofa, chimneys, etc. Aside from that, you can also add other entertainment areas where family can interact.

The exterior of the home is a place that often gets overlooked but needs to be improved upon. One major area is the roof. Happy and Excited Me

I feel good and happy that after two years we have finally finished paying our bank loan. I received the statement yesterday and was happy to see the “0.00” figures.

Loan Billing Statement

Hubby and I usually say no to loans but with the crunch nowadays, it is hard to live without loans. To cope up with life’s circumstances, we rely on payday loans for emergencies or bank loans to cover the bigger amount of money we need. Though sometimes paying them off are daunting, we are thankful that loans exist.

One more loan to finish and we will be free from obligations, except of course for our monthly electric and water bills which are for life. After that, we can already save for our house improvement. Hubby and I are planning the house renovation long time ago but whenever we are about to save for that, something more important arises.

We want our house to be renovated to improve comfort. Our girl is getting bigger (so are hubby and me, lol!) so we need bigger rooms. It won’t cost as much though to refresh our living space but still we need to save and plan the renovation very well to maximize our small house. I can’t wait to save enough for that. Just the thought of having my dream kitchen with granite counter tops excites me.

New Wall Clock for Our Kitchen

As they say, time is gold. Yes, it is! Every second time passing is very important especially for a work-at-home Mom like me who has no helper. I am not complaining. It is just that I have online tasks to finish all the time not to mention the household chores and taking care of our angel that is why I am very much time conscious. Believe it or not, there’s a wall clock in every room in our house, even in the kitchen. And now that the one in the kitchen just stopped I need to buy a new one. I like that clock but it is not working anymore even if I have changed the batteries already. There are literally thousands of decorative wall clocks in the market anyway and I can choose from antiques, to classics and contemporary.

I think this one will look good on our kitchen wall. It will make a good contrast on the yellow paint. This decorative wall clock is with rich blue segments that rotate outward to mark the hours with a pleasing spiral pattern. It has very large display that I can see even when I am cooking, thus, it will save me from having to go to another room to check the time.

You may find it OA to have a clock in every corner of our house but believe it or not, they help me balance everything, from my work to my family time.
