Cooking is my passion. Though the love for cooking runs in the family, my affinity for food began when I was in high school. Since then I watched my grandma’s cooking and learned a lot from her. When I married my husband, who loves to eat, my biggest break in the kitchen begins. He’s an explorer of food and he is fanatically in love with Maki and Sushi. Who won’t be in love with Sushi anyway? Its presentation is gorgeous, it is flavourful and most of all, it is healthy. But I have to admit making Sushi is not quite simple…it takes time to do it properly. So it was a relief when I received this Sushi Maker Kit Rice Mold Making Set from Tmart.com.
It is a 10-piece set that includes 1 mold for round sushi, 1 mold for heart-shaped, 1 mold for triangular shaped, 1 mold for large sushi and 1 mold for small sushi plus a fork and a knife.
The first time I saw this sushi maker kit on Tmart Bakeware, I know then that it will make my life easier so I ordered it. I received this kit just in time for Valentine’s Day. I prepared some special dishes for our dinner tonight and sushi is one of them. This sushi maker can make five different shapes but I made the heart shape which is perfect for the occasion and some round shapes too. Unlike the traditional sushi making wherein you need to roll the sushi using sushi mat (which needs a lot of effort and practice of course), making sushi using the sushi maker kit is easy-peasy. Just make sure you have prepared before hand everything you need including the ingredients then follow the procedure below.
1) Place the nori or seaweed wrapper in the mold.
2) Add enough sushi rice on the wrapper. Make sure there are still spaces left for the fillings.
3) Add the fillings of your choice. What I had are luncheon meat, mango and cucumber. Then cover the fillings with rice.
4) Fold the excess seaweed wrapper on top then cover with the shape of your choice.
Then slice the sushi through the spaces using a sharp knife. This will give you a uniform sized sushi.

The Sushi Maker Kit Rice Mold Making Set is made from high impact polystyrine materials and can only stand heat of 60 to 70 degrees so it is not advisable to boil it. It is easy to clean though because of it’s smooth surfaces; just wash with soap and water.
Thank you Tmart for making it just on time! When someone from Tmart told me that I have to wait a little longer because this item is out of stock so they have to order it yet, I was expecting that it will take a month or so but I was surprised to receive it in less than 2 weeks. Thumbs up for the fast processing of order and delivery!

Wow! This is one nifty kitchen tool. My husband likes sushi but I’ve never attempted to make one at home. Perhaps I would if I had one like this. 🙂
