It’s one vacation destination that we’d love to take the kids to.

There are no clear plans yet as to when, where, and how our London vacation will pull through. But, that does not stop me from doing my prep work. If you are also interested to visit the Big Smoke and experience the theatres, here’s what I found:
There are plenty of different productions running at the same time in various London theatres. The productions are lined up and announced months before opening. You can plan your vacation and book your tickets early. Choose the plays and musicals based on your child’s preferences. Aside from Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, other productions on this month’s theatre calendar include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre London.
There are many other theatres other than the bigger (and more expensive) ones at West End. You do not have to confine your search for shows to the theatres in the most popular venues. These are bigger venues that often cost a lot to visit. If you are on a tight budget, you can check out the repertories or the fringe theatres. Among the most popular repertories are the Shakespeare Globe Theatre and the National Theatre. These theatres often rotate their performances during the week. This gives you the chance to watch different performances within your stay in the city.
There are actually theatre tours that give you a closer look at what goes on behind the curtains. You might be interested in being more than just an audience. You can get a glimpse of what goes on backstage with the theatre tours not only of the biggest West End theatres but other less known theatres as well. There’s an interactive tour at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane that lets you experience the history of the theatre and meet the various characters that were instrumental in the theatre’s development.
