I was not active online for a week because I took a short break. My eyes got strained for I was in front of the computer the whole day for almost everyday. My eyes got tired from intense use. I had sore and burning eyes. It was very irritating and a little painful.
Asthenopia (aesthenopia) or eye strain is an ophthalmological condition that occurs when you over-use your eye muscles. Any muscle held in one position too long will cause fatigue, pain in or around the eyes, blurred vision, headache and occasional double vision. This type of stress on the visual system can also cause body fatigue and reduced efficiency at work. Symptoms often occur after reading, computer work, or other close activities that involve tiresome visual tasks. More than 50 percent of computer users experience eyestrain, headaches, blurred vision and other visual symptoms caused by persistent use of the computer.
Signs and Symptoms include:
• sore, tired, burning or itching eyes
• watery or dry eyes
• irritated and/or dry eyes
• occasional doubling or blurring of vision
• increased sensitivity to light

• pain in wrists and arms
Eye strain does not have severe or long term consequences. It can be cured with rest and simple techniques. However, there can also be underlying problems that causes eye strain that may need possible medication. Any prolonged concern or problems should always be discussed with your Optometrist or Optician.
