Experience Interactive Fun at The Robot Zoo

Have you ever wondered how a robot zoo looks like? How about a robot housefly? A robot chameleon? A robot squid? To give us a closer look at how these marvelous critters do their astonishing feats, NIDO FORTIFIED Science Discovery Center at the SM Mall of Asia, recently opened its doors to welcome kids and kids-at-heart to its newest exhibit—The Robot Zoo.

The Robot Zoo

“The Robot Zoo serves as a preview to the more exciting things we have in store for our re-launch—something we’re all so thrilled about. Every year, our group tours and walk in guests are growing in number. We brought The Robot Zoo to the Philippines not only to provide new fun learning experiences but also to be able to accommodate more kids, students, and curious/active minds into our facilities” says Arturo Carballo, Senior Operations Manager of NIDO FORTIFIED Science Discovery Center. “In keeping with our mission to celebrate the love for learning, we will be revamping our exhibits with fresh new material for everyone to enjoy. The Robot Zoo is first among the new walk-through galleries we’re about to present to the Filipino audience.”

The critters and beasts featured in the exhibit includes a giant squid with 18-foot tentacles, a house fly with a 10-foot wingspread, and a giraffe whose head and neck alone stretch 9 feet tall. Also included are a platypus, a bat, a grasshopper, a chameleon, and more. The Robot Zoo also features interactive activities that are sure to give visitors hands-on fun and excitement.Developed by Evergreen Exhibits and based on the book “The Robot Zoo,” conceived, edited and designed by Marshall Editions of London, England, the exhibit reveals the fascinating biomechanics of animals through larger-than-life robotic constructs that feature cutaways which expose the animals’ insides. On these cutaways, visitors can easily marvel at recognizable machine parts and gadgets like shock absorbers and pumps that demonstrate how these animals can do wonders.

  1. I want to visit the Robot Zoo in SM Mall of Asia because my kids are all lovers of hi-tech gadgetry and robotics, but they could only see images of robots in television and movies. The Robot Zoo would be a great treat to them to actually see in person real robots and to appreciate the robotics technology a lot better. I believe that actual face-to-face interaction with robots would encourage our kids to learn and consider innovating future technologies to improve the development of robots as useful tools to our everyday lives at home and at work. After all, the kids today are the future inventors who would take the technology a further step to amazing advancement.

  2. Robot zoo sounds amusing for my kiddo, esp. at this time of techno-driven gen. We have to engage kids in both worlds of reality and virtuals, computing devices to grasp knowledge and exposed them from different form of angles of interests.

This would be a good place to visit for kids and even adults like me as robotics is really something to appreciate at this time.

  6. Tani Caringal says:

I want to visit the Robot Zoo in SM Mall of Asia because my two kids are fascinated with animals. They have been to different types of zoos here and abroad and this one in MOA is surely unique. My son who is turning 4 y/o this July 21st, most especially, is enamored with robots. I am a believer in taking my children out in the world to let them experience and see things first-hand. And this Robot Zoo experience will most definitely be a good learning experience for them.

    Thanks,
    Mommy Tani
