Christmas in the Eyes of a Child

Children love Christmas tree or should I say everything about Christmas. When they hear Christmas carols and see lighted Christmas trees, their face lit up with bright eyes and happy smiles. That is why when RJ saw Christmas tree and lights from our neighbor, she told me to put up ours and so we did. I remember when she was still a toddler, I was keeping an eye on her because she kept on pulling the decorations from our Christmas tree.  Now, she was the one who helped me decorate our tree and garland.

Decorating is a great way to involve our children in more of our holiday traditions. I cannot forget RJ’s reaction when I got the box of decorations out of the closet. She was happy and giggling. Christmas is truly different in the eyes of the child. Remember this song?
C  is for the candy trimmed around the Christmas tree
H  is for the happiness with all the family
R  is for the reindeer prancing by the window pane
I  is for the icing on the cake as sweet as sugar cane
S  is for the stocking on the chimney wall
T  is for the toys beneath the tree so tall
M  is for the mistletoe where everyone will kissed
A  is for the angels who make up the Christmas list
S  is for old Santa who makes every kid his pet
Be good and he’ll give you everything in your Christmas alphabet

What Will I Get This Holiday

At last, after waiting for three days, this site is now in its full transition from blogspot to its own domain. I was planning to put up a new self-hosted site when this site’s PR became N/A from PR3. A bad rating but a good time to have its own domain. I do not know what is Mr. Google’s basis on rating the sites. Anyhow, I hope that he will grant my reconsideration after I uploaded the sitemaps. Because of this, I am late for Couple’s Corner again.
So, what will I get this Holiday? Here are my wild guesses…
From Tatay and Nanay-kitchenware. It is what I always get from them and has been routine for years.
From my sister-Olay moisturizer and perfume. I asked for it =-), but I will not receive it until next year because she just sent the package.
From my brothers-nothing I guess. They are not that thoughtful. I am always the one giving them gifts.
From friends-either beaded accessories, hankies or scented candles.
From Rhonnel-hair iron. He heard me planning to buy one.
From RJ…the sweetest hugs and kisses. These are the most precious for me.
Giving and receiving are traditions that fulfill Christmas. However, we are not obliged to give if we do not have the money. We can let our family and friends know how much we care by just giving them simple cards or by simply hugging and kissing them.

Christmas Wish List

First, let me show you our Christmas tree and the wreath and garland at our main door. I made some of the decorations and put these up last month through RJ’s help.
The holidays are approaching past and the happiest person in our house is RJ.
She does not need to have a wish list though because she keeps on reiterating what she wants for Christmas since October. She wants Ken (Barbie’s friend) and Word Factory. I do not know if Santa would give her Ken. She has plenty of dolls, most especially Barbies, that she seldom touches and play with. As for the Word Factory, she can have that for sure and maybe one more mind game because Santa wants educational toys for kids.  =)
What is on my Christmas wish list? Waaah, I cannot have that this Christmas because it was way expensive and we cannot afford that for now. Wondering what it is?
…a Canon EOS/SLR digital camera kit. I am drooling for it but I can wait, anyway.
What is on Rhonnel’s Christmas wish list? Honestly, I do not know. He is not asking for anything but I know that he loves to have this one…
…an airsoft pistol.
Hmmm…it seems that only RJ could get what  is on her Christmas wish list. But that is fine with us. Christmas is more than the gifts we receive and the good food on the table anyway. The three of us celebrating this holiday season together with our loved ones brings the true meaning of Christmas.

Stop Child Abuse

I saw this posted on Facebook, “Change your Facebook profile picture to a cartoon from your childhood and invite your friends to do the same, until Monday, Dec. 6. There should be no human faces on Facebook, but an invasion of memories. This is for violence against children”. So I changed my FB profile picture and I reposted this. Why is child abuse becoming so rampant?

When I saw the video of Kelsey Smith-Briggs last year, I cannot help but cry. The video broke my heart. Poor little girl. It is sad that two of my neighbors, a 16 year old boy and a 13 year old girl, are on the same shoes as Kelsey Briggs, beaten by their own father and their step-mom. I do not interfere with my neighbors’ life but I could not bear anymore the sound of a big man’s fist on his children’s flesh and the children’s crying and agony because of too much pain. These made me lost my temper. So I broke my silence and together with my other neighbors we filed complaints against the ruthless father. He was detained for a night in the precinct. We were forced to withdraw the complaint because he promised that he will not lay his hands on his children ever and that he will change for good together with his wife. Yes, a happy ending for them but I hope and pray that this will not just remain as promise. To you, my neighbors, do not forget that we are watching you. The next time you lay your hands on your children, we will make sure that you will be rotten in jail.

This is one thing that kept me busy last week. I posted this not to be excused on my non-existence last week, but because I want you to know that you can do something to save children, your neighbors, relatives, friends or even your own children, from violence. STOP CHILD ABUSE!

Crazy Over Virtual Farms

The free online games are what keeping Rhonnel and RJ busy on weekends. It is sort of their father-daughter bonding. They love searching for the cheats, tricks, tips and new games on the net. What are they crazy about are the virtual farms where they can plant, grow, harvest and sell fruits and vegetables. Thus, when I saw the Frohe Ernte (Happy Harvest) website, I recommend it to them. At Frohe Ernte, they can rule over a virtual farm and own virtual animals. Another good thing is they can play it on their mobile phones. Hmmm…seems like I will be joining them too in getting crazy over farm games.
